Charge Temperature Gauge. These gauges were placed inside a cartridge case of one gun in the battery, and the case set to one side so the gauge was not accidentally fired. The gun No1 would be requested to provide the CP with temperature readings as the temperature of the charge affected its combustion which combined with all the other factors had to be taken into account when calculating settings for the guns, this was still happening in the late 1980's/early 90's, whether it still happens I don't know.
This is the only example I have ever come across, it is non-functioning. Some traces of Khaki Drab paint are still present and the rear has the WD Arrow mark, there is no date, the only other information on the rear is 'B.R.C W10/WK/00100'.
