Very rare Lewis LMG tool kit in canvas holdall, a canvas holdall was introduced in 1916 to replace the previous leather one, however I have not been able to find a picture of one to check against this example which appears to be correct.
As you can see from the photographs the kit has a great deal in it including some tools that I have not seen before, the kit came from a reputable source and is one of only two brought into the UK many years ago along with a lot of scarce Vickers accessories, a photo of the other kit which has identifying stencils on it can be seen in the photos.
The Extractor tool is interesting as it is stamped for the Vickers but does not have the claw making it an earlier version and the barrel spanner has a little slot at the bottom of the handle which I hjave not seen before, both kits when compared had these tool versions.
Everything is in VGC but the leather pouch has one of the small pocket studs detached. We have the two part gas bore cleaning rod available to fit the mop if required.
